ESAudio Ltd. Won the Munich Stadion!

The famous Munich Olympic Stadium is an iconic venue located in the Olympiapark complex in Germany. It was originally built for the 1972 Summer Olympics and is renowned for its distinctive sweeping, tent-like roof structure. For many years, the stadium also served as the home ground of FC Bayern Munich, further cementing its status as one of Europe’s most recognizable sports venues.

In late 2005, the Munich Olympic Stadium underwent renovation, during which the operators decided to upgrade the sound system to meet modern performance and safety standards. Due to the scale and acoustic challenges of the venue, several leading loudspeaker manufacturers were invited to present their solutions. After thorough evaluation, the stadium ultimately selected ESAudio’s system, marking a significant achievement for the brand.

The NJ 66 System in the Munich Olympic Stadium

The installed NJ 66 system was chosen for its outstanding speech intelligibility and uniform sound coverage across the entire spectator area. Featuring a 2×6” driver configuration combined with a proprietary ribbon tweeter, the system delivers crystal-clear audio even in large open-air environments. The NJ 66 operates on a 100V system, making it ideal for large-scale public address applications.

These loudspeakers are specifically engineered to withstand harsh outdoor conditions while maintaining excellent sound performance. A specially developed water- and UV-resistant polymer enclosure ensures long-term durability, even under extreme weather exposure. ESAudio’s proprietary ribbon tweeters significantly enhance speech intelligibility, which is crucial for announcements and large-event communication in stadium settings.

From a safety and engineering perspective, the rigging hardware and internal loudspeaker components form a single integrated structure. This design improves thermal management through efficient cooling and enhances fire safety, as the system is securely attached to the supporting structure and will not detach in the event of a fire.

ESAudio Ltd. designed this loudspeaker solution specifically for the Munich Olympic Stadium. The enclosure color was custom-made to match the visual requirements of the historic monument, preserving the architectural integrity of the venue.

The system was designed and installed by PAV GmbH, under the supervision of Gerhard Hackl, an authorized reseller.
